Department:

The Server Administrator I is responsible for all Operational functions associated with the support and maintenance the Windows servers as directed by Assistant Director of Server Administration. Microsoft platforms may include Active Directory and Exchange as well as Windows servers of various flavors.

Basic Function:

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director of System Administration:
  • Provide Microsoft Windows Server operating system and VMware support.
  • Monitor server performance and availability.
  • Address operational systems issues including file and share permissions, user accounts and installing applications.
  • Promote and maintain server patch management practices.
  • Support and maintain Active Directory.
  • Knowledge and support of Group policy.
  • Provide Windows Exchange Email Server Support.
  • Upgrade and replace server hardware where appropriate.
  • Provide support to Technical Service Technicians as needed

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Any related Associate‚Äôs Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 year of experience in a professional IT environment.
  • Knowledge of basic Microsoft Server administration.
  • Knowledge of server hardware configurations.
  • Knowledge disk RAID configurations.
  • MCTS / MCP Certification or progress towards MCITP certification a plus.
  • Ability to work well with a team of experienced professionals
  • Ability to work off-hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel overnight when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in information systems or computer science.


  • One (1) or more years of progressively responsible related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Operational experience in the support of a Windows 2012 V2, VMware, and Unitrends backup system.
