Detailed Job Description

This position plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials (mock-ups, visual aids, and instruction sheets) as necessary. Instructs, manages, and supervises individual and groups in classrooms and laboratories.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree (or Bachelor’s Degree) from an accredited University.
Journeyman Status in the Collision Repair field.
I-CAR Certified.
ASE Master Certified in Collision Repair.
Paint Certified Technician from at least one paint manufacturer.
Teaching experience at a secondary or post-secondary level.


Knowledge of Custom painting techniques.

Knowledge of Automotive; electricity, engine performance, steering and suspension, brakes, heating and air conditioning.

Knowledge of I-CAR approved repair techniques.

Knowledge of refinishes, paint problems and defects, their causes and repair procedures.


Skilled in; refinishing, spot painting, tinting and blending, metal straightening techniques, filler applications surface preparation, structural repair, and damage analysis.

Skilled in repairing of general automotive engines, steering and suspension, brakes, heating and air conditioning.


Ability to manage a large group of students, keep them on task, and evaluate performance levels.

Ability to communicate effectively in a wide variety of settings.

Ability to analyze and diagnose structural damage and electrical problems.
