Detailed Job Description

Direct the daily kitchen activities and catering operation while ensuring established food preparation and local health department standards are maintained. The Dining Services Kitchen Supervisor is also responsible for the ordering of food and beverage products as well as controlling and minimizing food costs.  

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree or higher in relevant area required

Minimum of 5 years of experience in back-of-the-house operations as a kitchen supervisor or similar management required.

Minimum of 2 years of experience of quantity food purchasing required

Cash handling and book keeping experience required  

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of HAACP and sanitation policies/standards.

Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for periods for up to four (4) hours in length.

Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and carry dish racks weighing up to forty(40) pounds on a regular and continuing basis.

Must have the stamina to work a minimum of 50 to 60 hours a week and be available for a flexible work schedule including weekends when necessary.

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, including experience dealing with diverse populations, including governmental agencies, business and industry representatives, community organizations, students, faculty, staff and the public.

Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work flow, and ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously with attention to details, deadlines and accuracy.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and experience with foodservice software.

Able to handle possible stressful situations and respond to emergency situations to avoid danger to self and others.

Must have a valid MD driver's license, clean driving record and be able to drive any vehicle provided by Dining Services.

Proven commitment to providing excellent customer service, food production, sanitation standards and working with others in a food service dining position.
