The Director of Student Academic Support Services is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the Academic Advising Center (undecided/exploratory majors, students on academic probation, students at-risk, and culturally relevant academic advising), High Potential Program (first-generation students), and the Tutorial and Academic Skills Center.  With a staff of five coordinators and an administrative assistant, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing the services of the centers and programs under its charge.  These programs and services provide high quality, effective and efficient support for the academic success and persistence of undergraduate students.

Saint Mary’s College employs a shared advising structure, utilizing faculty in their respective departments and the services of the above mentioned programs/centers.  The Director of Student Academic Support Services reports to the Dean of Academic Advising and Achievement.  It is a high profile position that serves as a member of the Dean’s Leadership Team.  The Director interacts and collaborates with faculty, students, Student Life resources, parents and families, administrators, and alumni.   

Experience and Qualifications:

 Masters Degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or its foreign equivalent.   Minimum of five years experience in higher education in student academic support services or student development, including three years experience directing professional staff or directing student academic support programs.  Desired qualifications include experience with first-generation college student support, at-risk student support, and bilingual proficiency with English and Spanish.
