Under the direction of the Dean and chair of the Digital Media department, the Lecturer teaches digital media courses, provides service to the department, and upholds professional and ethical standards.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an earned Bachelor’s degree in digital media, computer science, media-related fine arts, or discipline-related field with work experience in technology-based industries and teaching experience at the post secondary level.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an earned MFA or PHD preferred.
Industry equivalence working in the fields of animation, game development, web development, or application development preferred.
Knowledge of subject matter and course content and demonstrated expertise in two or more of the following areas: animation, game development, internet technologies, scripting/software development, and mobile application development.
Knowledge of pertinent software tools used by the animation and games media industry are highly desirable: Unity 3D – Maya – Houdini – Adobe Creative Suite.
Use of the following scripting languages: C# – Python – MEL
Web or Mobile application and experience and skills with the following are highly desirable: Angular – JQuery – Bootstrap – Non SQL databases.
Use of the following languages:
Competency in areas of design for animation, game development, or web and application development such as:
Graphic design, Storyboarding, and UI/UX design.
Conceptual design and development.
Unity, Unreal, or other game engines and architecture.
iOS, Android or other mobile application development experience.
Agile software development processes.
Object-oriented programming and MVC experience.
Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the willingness and ability to: plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught.
Ability to prepare instructional materials, i.e. course outlines, syllabi, exams, mock-ups, lab projects, visual aids, and instruction sheets, as necessary;
Ability to maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
Excels in an ongoing program of scholarship that demonstrates intellectual and professional growth.
