Under the direction of the president’s Autism Initiative Committee and/or the Executive Director of the Center, the Director for Community Services supervises community services including community education/training programs on and off campus (i.e. Passages Program) and events. This position serves as liaison with outside community agencies and UVU senior administration and works to achieve University and Center goals regarding community engagement through the development and implementation of new programs; and, acts as spokesperson for UVU Autism Initiative/Center to public, media, and community partners including public presentations at local conferences, guest lectures and training for community entities.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
BCBA preferred, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire.
At least 10+ years of experience related to the essential job duties and to ASD treatment, therapy, diagnosis and educational best practices (related Master Degree preferred.)
Thorough knowledge and understanding of behavior analysis and best practices as it applies to ASD therapies and treatment options.
Knowledge of organizational development theory and management practices.
Knowledge of higher education administration.
Knowledge and experience in development (fund-raising) practices, policies and procedures with a history of successful results.
Knowledge and experience in working within FERPA, HIPAA, ADA requirements and state regulation compliance and reporting.
Knowledge of successful marketing principles and practices.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Strong organizational and management skills including strategic planning and prioritization, budget preparation, fiscal management, and personnel/HR laws and policies, and at least 5 years of direct personnel management experience.
Records management skills, including FERPA and HIPAA compliant systems and state reporting systems.
Skilled in program planning, development and implementation.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong public presentation skills.
Ability to present effectively to small groups and perform services as a university representative, and proven track record of successful training/teaching experience.
Strong demonstrated ability to supervise employees and comply with University, state and federal hiring policies/processes.
Ability to provide guidance and leadership to community program personnel/faculty.
Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
Ability to foster a cooperative positive work environment among all divisions and within diverse competing community entities.
Ability to plan and implement short and long-range goals.
Ability to develop effective work teams with the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish Center community goals.
