The position assists Industrial Design (IND)Professors and students in the operation of lab equipment. The Lab Coordinator will provide preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, assist with Computer Numeric Control (CNC) and additive manufacturing equipment use with students, and supervise open lab hours. The position will also monitor lab supply stocks and manage specialized equipment checkout.
35%- Lab supervision-consists of assisting and reporting current lab coordinator, directing and advising IND students during posted open lab times in designated laboratories. Assists students to maintain a safe environment utilizing appropriate safety equipment, materials and proper equipment operation. Maintains a clean, functional environment for students in the laboratory environment.
35%- CNC and additive manufacturing equipment operation- consists of assisting current lab coordinator and independently utilizing department CNC and additive manufacturing equipment in collaboration with students and faculty. To maintain and operate our CNC and additive manufacturing the person must know some sort of CAD software.
25%- Maintain and Repair of Equipment – consists of performance of minor repair of equipment required for educational and student use in IND laboratories.
5%- Monitor Lab Supplies & Equipment checkout includes monitoring and making recommendations for the purchase of supplies required to adequately support student laboratory assignments for the department labs. Monitors equipment location/storage and manages student checkout system to assure equipment security.

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
Three years of experience related to the position responsibilities listed in the job description.
Documented experience in equipment or machinery repair.
Experience in wood, metal, and plastic materials and fabrication.
Documented experience or education in Computer Aided Drafting-CAD software.
Basic working knowledge in CNC (Computer Numeric Control) and additive manufacturing equipment.
Extensive knowledge in the use of Industrial Design lab equipment.
Must be able to interact positively with a wide range of people within the College and with external audiences.
Experience providing customer service, or working with students, faculty and staff.
Knowledge or ability to research best product for purchasing equipment essential to lab environment.
