Detailed Job Description

The Events Coordinator directs the planning, implementation, execution, follow-up and budget of events occurring both on and off campus. This position is demanding and vital to the overall image of the assigned area in terms of attracting financial resources, quality students, corporate participation, and external support. Duties may include: conceptualization of event theme; creation of invitation lists; site selection; seating arrangements; inventory management; negotiating with florist, caterers, hotel sales directors and print shops for maximum cost containment; management of on-site contract staff, clerical support and student assistants; development and management of event budget.

Additional Department Summary:

This position is a critical position to the ongoing operation and financial success of The University Club. Position is responsible for booking of special events, catered functions and ensure that all events are properly executed and staffed. Position works along side the Marketing Coordinator. The position supervises students in the Restaurant, Hotel and Meetings management program, College of HES; in providing day to day supervision of activities related to sales and marketing. Position supervises between 1-10 students on a daily basis. A key responsibility of the position is to assist the College of HES and The University Club to ensure sufficient revenues are generated to support Club activities; also works with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure accurate and complete membership records and ensure effective communication among membership and University Club staff.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a preference for any degree that would support event management, such as public relations, communications, advertising, business, or marketing and at least two (2) years experience in events to include planning, directing, budgeting and promotion; OR an associate's degree and at least four (4) years experience in events to include planning, directing, budgeting and promotion; OR a high school diploma or GED and at least six (6) years experience in events to include planning, directing, budgeting and promotion; OR Master's degree or higher with a preference for any degree that would support event management, such as public relations, communications, advertising, business, or marketing. Related student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge:

Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and data base programs. Exceptional verbal, writing, planning and organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent customer service skills. Ability to learn new software programs to assist with scheduling special events. 56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 28537.56 Midpoint - $ 39956.76
