Implements, administers, and maintains complex, enterprise-level IT systems, network applications, and services related to Windows OS. Installs and configures Windows systems and applications along with general maintenance, security and vendor-supplied updates, basic administration, ad hoc reporting, and execution of processes and procedures for ongoing management of the systems environment. Troubleshoots Windows OS and Microsoft application security patch installations. Contributes to research and evaluation of new enterprise technologies, processes, and upgrades to Windows infrastructure, and makes recommendations for improvements. Solves technical issues, provides problem escalation support as required, and ensures the availability, reliability, stability, and scalability of Windows systems.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field OR any combination of relevant education and experience totaling four years.
This is a career ladder position, incumbent will be placed on their education and experience:
Systems Administrator I: BS Info Tech or related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience totaling four years.
Systems Administrator II: BS in Info Tech plus one year work experience or a combination of relevant education and experience totaling four years.
Systems Administrator III: BS in Info Tech plus three years work experience or a combination of relevant education and experience totaling seven years.
Also successful completion of one current industry recognized certification, that is directly related.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows server administration and engineering.
Knowledge of Windows File Servers, IIS, DHCP, and DNS.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, application protocols, anti-virus software, and relational databases.
Working knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP directories.
Working knowledge of various operating systems.
Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Exercising effective interpersonal communication.
Prioritization, organization, researching, and ingenuity.
Ability to read, write, and interpret technical documentation and procedures pertaining to Windows OS and the systems environment.
Think logically, resolve problems, identify tasks, and develop strategic project plans.
Be self-motivated with a strong customer service orientation and a keen attention to detail.
Present ideas in user-friendly language.
Complete multiple tasks and requests based on the organizational goals and objectives of the University.
