Detailed Job Description

Serves as the primary assistant to the RISD Museum Development team communicating with a variety of internal and external constituents including top level donors, prospects and business partners. Maintains accurate donor records in the development database; performs research; and runs timely standard and ad-hoc reports. Completes various administrative and clerical support duties for the development department and may represent development staff when necessary.  


Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

1-2 years' experience in a professional office setting, preferably in the development field.

Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience with technical tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and database software.

Ability to communicate and work with all levels of constituents effectively, while operating in a fast-paced, customer-service environment.

Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Ability to set priorities and to adapt these as priorities shift, to handle multiple assignments and deadlines, and to display excellent judgment, white operating in a flexible and professional manner.

Proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and business mathematics.

Proven ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse backgrounds and interests.

Discretion when dealing with highly sensitive information.
