The Law Enforcement Training Specialist develops, organizes and implements continuing education courses and specialized training to fulfill the educational needs of law enforcement agencies throughout the district. This position will also assist with teaching continuing education courses and the 720 hour Law Enforcement Academy.
*Instruct program classes/courses as assigned.
*Manage assigned organizational unit. Monitor budget; ensure college policies, procedures and guidelines are followed.
*Schedule, market and facilitate a full schedule of in-service and specialty classes.
*Plan, organize and follow up support for courses/classes. Schedule classrooms, equipment, and materials.
*Ensure maintenance and inventory of equipment, facilities and materials used in program area.
*Recruit, hire, schedule and supervise adjunct faculty. Evaluate performance and recommend professional development activities.
*Manage payroll process for adjunct faculty and contracted instructors who provide training in continuing education courses.
*Evaluate training and contract services to ensure client needs are met.
*Develop and distribute reports of unit activities as requested.
*Utilize advisory committees according to state/district guidelines.
*Other duties as assigned.
*Represent WITC at state and local meetings as requested.
*Establish positive working relationships with internal and external constituent groups, agencies, governmental units, etc.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
2. Three or more years occupational experience in Law Enforcement or other Criminal Justice field.
3. Certified or ability to be certified with Wisconsin Department of Justice as an instructor.
