Frostburg State University, Department of Nursing, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing position to develop a new Family Nurse Practitioner program (MS in Nursing). This is a grant-funded faculty position to be based primarily on campus in Frostburg, Maryland. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included. The ideal candidate will have an impressive clinical background as an FNP, having cared for individuals across the lifespan, as well as a passion for educating the next generation of Nurse Practitioners.
Responsibilities: This is a unique opportunity to develop FSU’s blended Family Nurse Practitioner program (MSN), working with established NP faculty members and in accordance with the grant scope and regulations. Position will require collaborative, interdisciplinary teamwork within the department, college, University and community with limited travel during the program planning phase. The successful candidate will display a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, mentoring, and professional involvement.
After FNP program implementation, expected in Fall 2017, this position must deliver content and clinical instruction (12 credit hours per semester) in a traditional classroom setting as well as online. Duties will include clinical supervision of students, student advising, and engaging in scholarly activities and professional development. Professional service and service to the department, college, and University will be expected. There is allowance for clinical practice and support for maintenance of licensure, certification(s), and relevant continuing education.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing or related field. ANCC/AANP Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. At least five years of Family Nurse Practitioner background across the lifespan. Unrestricted license or eligible for RN/FNP licensure in Maryland.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctoral degree in Nursing Practice, or doctorate preparation. At least two years of FNP classroom and clinical education experience, including online course design and instruction. Active membership and leadership in national, state, or local Nurse Practitioner organizations.
