Detailed Job Description



This 12-month part-time position which will assist in the academic support of Saint Leo University’s 19-sport NCAA Division II athletics program

Basic Function:

  • Providing academic advising for all assigned student athletes
  • Coordinating academic advising activities between student-athletes, department advisors, and athletics compliance staff
  • Assist in scheduling student-athletes for classes that do not conflict with practice, playing or travel schedules as to minimize missed class time.
  • Supporting and monitoring the HASP and tutoring programs for athletes.
  • Monitor current student-athletes activities such as: Full time enrollment, Registration requirements, and Provide individual guidance and document academic plans
  • Monitor academic alert systems and intervene when needed
  • Meet with student-athletes on probation at the beginning of each semester to establish the conditions of their future eligibility (In conjunction with Athletic Compliance office).
  • Having regular contact with the student-athletes, coaches, Registrar, faculty advisors, and the Office of Compliance to ensure student athletes are meeting progress towards a degree and fulfilling all academic requirements according to NCAA and University regulations.
  • Support the philosophy, goals, and mission of the University and its intercollegiate athletics program, as well as adherence to departmental policies
  • Oversee the National college Honor society and Presidents Club selection and program
  • Compile various reports including Team GPA, nominations for conference and NCAA awards,
  • Assist with transcript evaluation of incoming student-athletes
  • Assist with initial eligibility evaluations
  • Create graduation plans for incoming, transfer, and current student-athletes.
  • Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director or Associate Athletic Director

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • High level of integrity and a strong sense of ethical principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate with numerous University constituencies in an effective manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA bylaws, conference and university academic requirements and athletic regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA bylaws, conference and university academic requirements and athletic regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Working knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations preferred
