Under the general direction of the Undergraduate Student Services Manager, the Student Life Specialist (SLS) shares responsibility for the development and implementation of programs and clubs & organizations that support the needs and fosters the growth of Center for Online Learning (COL) students. The SLS is responsible for the delivery of effective and quality services to students as it relates to clubs and organizations, and Student Life.
Assist the Undergraduate Student Services Manager in the promotion of strategies and programs designed to positively impact student persistence and increase student satisfaction.
Provide oversight to student clubs and organizations, coordinate recognition and registration procedures for all student clubs for COL students.
Collaborate with Student Advising in the development and implementation of programs that improve student persistence i.e. peer mentor-ship programs, student ambassador programs etc..
Ensures that information is proactively communicated and requests for assistance are met with a response that is meaningful and supportive for our students regarding the day-to-day operations of our COL clubs and organizations, as well as communication that includes our COL alumni including event staging, coordination and participation.
Responsible for proactive student outreach aimed at fostering the virtual student community.
Assist in managing the COL graduation event planning process, including assisting with documentation and graduating student communications.
Assist the Undergraduate Students Services Manager in working collaboratively with all departments to ensure appropriate awareness and cohesive communications with Student Services efforts and initiatives with a common goal of an exceptional student service experience with each interaction.
Responsible for creating leadership outreach clubs and organization that enhance student learning while simultaneously creating a sense of community amongst COL students.
Assist the Undergraduate Student Services Manager in developing goals and plans that assess efficiency, effectiveness and student satisfaction of clubs and organizations within COL.
Other duties as assigned by the Undergraduate Student Services Manager.
Superior oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to engage with a variety of constituents (current students, alumni, faculty, etc.) from many different cultural backgrounds.
Superior organizational skills; ability to execute multiple objectives concurrently.
Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Proficiency with Social Media usage and navigation
Proficiency with MS office and managing student databases required.
One to three years of experience within a higher education setting.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required
Academic or other counseling background preferred.
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
