This position provides assistance and administrative support for Assistant Director of Benefit Services, Benefits & HRIS Analyst and the Human Resources Department as a whole to drive world-class benefit programs for the University of La Verne

Specific Duties

  • Process and coordinate benefit programs including COBRA, such as medical, dental, vision, life, accident, disability, long-term care, flexible spending accounts and retirement plans, for all employees
  • Provide benefit orientations and prepare & setup meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand benefit programs.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to employees on the requirements and provisions of benefit programs & assist with the resolution of potential problems
  • Process and reconcile insurance billings and FSA claim payments
  • Assist with leaves of absences (FMLA, CFRA, PDL)
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Benefit Services and Benefits & HRIS Analyst with special projects and other duties assigned, including annual open enrollment period
  • Prepare and maintain employee benefit records, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in Benefits and keep abreast law and regulations to ensure benefit programs compliance
  • Cover Front Desk position for breaks, lunch, vacation, etc. as needed
  • Assist in ACA eligibility tracking and reporting for approximately 2000+ variable-type employees
  • Assist in paid sick leave tracking and reporting for employees that are less than .5 FTE.

Minimum Qualifications

AA Degree
2-4 years of benefits or related benefits administration
2-4 of experience in Microsoft Office and HRIS
2-4 years of experience in leave administration
Experience in working with a diverse workforce
Requires the ability to plan and perform diversified duties requiring an extensive knowledge of a particular field, and the use of a wide range of procedures. Involves the exercise of judgment in the analysis of facts or
individual problems or transaction to determine what actions should be taken within the limits of standard practice.
Effective communication skills: oral and written
Strong organizational skills
Ability to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines while maintaining accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

Banner Human Resources or similar HRIS system
Higher education background
