The Global Campus of Adler University (formerly Adler School of Professional Psychology) is seeking applicants for a new Master of Arts in Media and Communication for Social Change program director. The program is scheduled to begin fall 2015 and will be offered entirely online. This innovative new program will prepare students to leverage digital media as part of integrated strategies to impact and drive social change. Applicants should be enthusiastic about the future of the media and communications field and be willing to shepherd an innovative and unique program into reality.
Narrowly defined communications strategies that center solely on traditional media silos and one-directional communications cannot succeed in a rapidly shifting, more flexible, data-driven communications environment. This program was specifically designed to address the modern day challenges and leverage new tools to drive a social change agenda and shape public opinion.
This curriculum will prepare students to combine-time tested communications tactics with new digital media tools as part of integrated strategies to move a mission. Students will explore the intersections of data, technology, psychology, communications and media to form a holistic perspective on what drives social change and how institutions can move their agenda. Best practices and insights from the private sector, major movements and electoral campaigns will be examined to ensure that students are prepared for the fast-moving world of public engagement innovation.
While a forward-looking perspective is at the core of this program, students must also respect and understand the core tenets of communications theory, traditional social organizing and psychology that set the framework for and remain at the heart of some of the most disruptive, digitally-fueled movements of the past decade. These courses are designed to marry technology and communications strategy with the psychology of social innovation and user behavior. Keeping up with ever-changing social and digital landscapes requires professionals take a futuristic approach that goes beyond current media, practices, and thinking to position students as adaptable innovators, social entrepreneurs and communications strategists.

Program Director responsibilities include teaching selected online courses, online course development, advisement of graduate students, supervising adjunct faculty, administrative leadership, service provision to Adler School and greater professional community, participation in institutional committees, chairing capstone examinations, collaboration in marketing and recruitment of students.
