Perform a variety of administrative and customer service duties related to the operation of the Postal Contract Station and student package pickup. 


USPS Contract Station:

  • Operates cash register in USPS contract station window; receives money and makes change; counts register drawer and reconciles balance
  • Assists customers; answers questions and provides information.  Resolve customer complaints/problems and refer when appropriate
  • Supervises and trains student employees; assigns tasks; monitors performance
  • Answer phone; responds to general inquiries
  • Maintains inventory of supplies sold at customer service counter (envelopes for sale as well as carrier provided packaging); reorders as needed
  • Maintains service counter in neat and orderly manner; monitors shelves and rearranges as necessary; sets up displays.
  • Provides leadership and serves as informational resource for student employees.  Assists in the enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for sales of postal products – postage stamps, postage for outgoing mail, money orders and envelopes
  • Responsible for mail forwarding for students living on campus to include - update FileMaker Pro database, lookup student address, print forwarding label and place in proper container for USPS pickup.  
  • Provides balance for daily MUlaa charges and enters information into spreadsheet for daily financial reports prepared by Manager.   Verifies daily USPS deposit. 
  • Reprograms cash register regarding prices and products as needed.
  • Conducts postal operations that include selling stamps, money orders and envelopes and providing postal information to customers.

Package Pickup Services:

  • Assists with delivery of packages to student customers and supervision of delivery process.
  • Assists with maintenance of packages stored in cage and surrounding shelving/storage areas to insure accuracy of storage placement,  including condensing packages and troubleshooting lost packages.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires six months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and one year of retail or hospitality experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of USPS products and regulations preferred, but not required;  proficient computer skills with experience using MS Excel and Filemaker Pro;
