Detailed Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for the overall material condition of his/her assigned building(s) and immediate surroundings. The mechanic will perform routine and preventive maintenance repairs, initiate and respond to work orders to ensure that the assigned building(s) are in good repair. The mechanic will support learning programs by maintaining furniture inventories at designated numbers and in good repair. The mechanic will initiate work orders for the custodial staff to maintain facility cleanliness at or above acceptable standards  

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and specialized training or equivalent experience in all areas of major responsibility.

Demonstrated abilities in areas of electrical, electronic, plumbing, carpentry and HVACR skills with a minimum of five-years' experience in facilities maintenance.

Successful completion of advanced training in HVACR, pneumatic valves, and refrigeration.

Must be reliable with a proven attendance record.

Ability to work safely and independently without supervision

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, staff and the public.

Demonstrated ability to work under the following conditions and meet the following physical requirements:

Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, to include heat, cold, rain snow and slippery conditions.

Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8 hour shift.

Ability to work at elevated heights utilizing ladders, lifts and/or scaffolding.

Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
