Job Description:


Under the general direction of the Director of the Library, Greenfield Community College seeks a creative, collaborative, student-centered, and technologically-savvy librarian for a reference and instruction position, with a particular focus on distance education and digital services.


  • Provide leadership and recommendations for how to best tailor the library experience for distance education students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and library staff to develop, maintain, assess, and facilitate information literacy instruction through a variety of delivery modes.
  • Liaise with faculty, particularly those teaching fully online, to develop imbedded library resources and instruction in learning management system (Moodle).
  • Devise, update, and assess new reference and research services, relevant to our student population, utilizing current and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty on curriculum-specific resources and assignments.
  • Create, implement and assess online learning objects such as specialized research guides and multimedia tutorials using particular platforms (LibGuides, Camtasia, Jing, etc.).
  • Promote awareness and use of library resources through outreach to faculty, staff and students.
  • Troubleshoot computer, network and other equipment issues and problems.
  • Serve as point of contact to liaison with partnering college libraries
  • Provide circulation services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science or demonstrated significant progress towards Library Science Master's degree.
  • Experience providing reference/research service in person and in online environments.
  • Working knowledge of software programs, such as Camtasia, Jing, Screencast-O-Matic, etc.
  • Experience in creating, implementing, and assessing online learning objects, such as specialized research guides and multimedia tutorials.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in a variety of delivery modules and with groups of all sizes.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population.
  • Working knowledge of trends and emerging technologies in libraries.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work days and evenings.
  • Proficiency in current and emerging technologies.


  • Experience in a community college setting.
  • Familiarity with assessment methods for library services and information literacy.
  • Familiarity with OER (Open Educational Resources).
  • Community college teaching, project management, or grant experience.
