Detailed Job Description

This position is responsible for the support of all critical enterprise application and database services used by the entire Bentley community. The Data Administration Manager is responsible for the installation and support of enterprise applications such as Banner, MyBentley, CAS, Blackboard, Informatica, Cognos, and database administration across the entire campus. The Data Administration Manager will act as the key liaison for the IT division regarding all technical database functions at Bentley.  

Additional Description of Duties:

Management of database and application support of both on premise and cloud based solutions including proper training and mentoring.

Front line support for key users; responding to, and prioritizing requests from many sources.

Manage 24 x 7 support for critical applications.

Provide "hands on" in database and application support as required.

Provide technical input into analysis and design of database and application implementation. Scope, assign, and resolve all HEAT and JIRA tickets related to data administration, database, and application support.

Coordinate with the Director of Administrative Computing in resource planning for all department projects.

Meet with key Management staff in implementing complex cross department projects.

Key liaison between technical staff and project managers for all projects led by Administrative Computing.

Insure integrity of all centralized Bentley databases by maintaining patching, backup and recovery procedures, including leading the database and development group in disaster recovery testing for the Administrative Computing environment

Establish/follow standards and procedures in direct support of development/production needs (for example, Change Control) and work directly with SN&T managers to assure common goals are met.  

Position Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years experience, or an Associate's degree and a minimum of 6 years experience supporting a Relational Database environment with at least 2 of those years supporting Oracle.

Technical skills required to provide input and support to all new and existing application installations and customization.

Proven management/leadership skills (2 + years) required to lead team of DBA's and application support staff in support of Enterprise Application initiatives.

Ability to manage many incoming requests, prioritize, and make key support decisions when necessary.

Good personnel skills in managing technical staff and working with other IT departments for on-call support.

Advanced technical expertise in development and Oracle under UNIX, Linux and Windows environments. Oracle Application Server experience is required.

Must have good analytical, communications and organizational skills, be an expert trouble shooter, and be capable of providing leadership and guidance to Data Administration Staff.

Availability to be "on call" evenings and weekends as required.
