The mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is to provide our students with educational experiences which give them a sound basis for professional practice, advanced education, active citizenship, and lifelong learning. At its core is the goal that students learn the fundamental principles of electrical and computer engineering and master engineering methods to solve challenging and diverse problems. Further, the department strives to have each student develop the leadership and communications skills necessary to relate these solutions to both technical and non-technical communities. The faculty is dedicated to accomplishing this mission through the integration of teaching and research.
The Department Administrator:
*manages the daily operation of the academic department primarily in the areas of human resource support for Faculty, Staff and Students;
*handles departmental financial management; develops and prepares budgets and financial reports for department and sponsored funds;
*represents the department to a wide variety of constituents within the university;
*supervises office administrative staff and coordinates academic and student affairs for department;
*oversees special events, communications and publications.
*A Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of related experience OR an Associate's degree with five (5) years of experience
*Proficient in Microsoft Office
*Strong skills in financial management, human relations, staff supervision, customer service, and communication (oral and written)
*Excellent writing and proofreading skills
*A sense of initiative, aptitude for problem solving, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in and knowledge of academic or non-profit organization is preferred. Prior supervisory experience is also preferred.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Coverage of special events in the evening approximately 2-3 times per year.
