Westshore, Corporate College West

Job Responsibilities

Directs all aspects of the Learning Commons with a commitment to customer satisfaction, quality, and accuracy for students, faculty, staff and community patrons

Responsible for training, continuously developing, and managing the performance of Learning Commons employees

As the Learning Commons budget unit leader, develops and monitors the campus priorities and departmental budget

Gathers and analyzes activity data to use for planning and continuous improvement

Develops strategic partnerships with faculty and ensures classroom technology is performing satisfactorily in a manner that is conducive to student engagement and success

Provides leadership, oversight and administration of academic and campus-based computing services

Partners closely with the college’s information technology services department

Represents the Learning Commons department both on campus and College-wide

Assists with coordinating learning services with leadership from other functional area

Participates in the planning and implementation of campus and community activities

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of four years of successful supervisory, management, and leadership experience with demonstrated commitment to mentoring, training, and staff development within an academic technology environment

Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others

Demonstrated experience forecasting, planning, preparing, maintaining, and monitoring a business area’s budget

Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department

Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Possesses working knowledge of academic technology concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently

Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with demonstrated attention to detail

Ability to be creative and exercise initiative

Possesses excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to adjust to changing priorities and respond appropriately to deadlines

Demonstrated basic project management skills

Ability to promote collaboration, teamwork, and involve all stakeholders in decision-making processes

Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity

Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality

Possesses sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Master’s Degree in a related field

Demonstrated experience in a higher education environment

Work Schedule

Standard College hours of business- Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5pm, occasional evenings and weekends as needed
