Under the supervision of the Director of Advising, the Advising Coordinator for Training and Development develops, implements, manages, and assesses the training and development program for professional advisors and faculty advisors at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver). The Coordinator will work with constituents in advising offices and academic units across the University to develop programs that foster the knowledge, skills, and cultural competencies necessary for advisors at all levels to deliver the University’s advising program. Skilled in teaching adults using multiple modalities and formats, the Coordinator strengthens advising by providing the tools advisors need to deliver an effective program. The Coordinator will deliver materials in person, online using a learning management system, and in other modalities/formats as necessary.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • 75% In collaboration with a broad array of constituents, develop and implement developmental advising training opportunities for professional and faculty advisors to develop knowledge, skills, and cultural competencies that align with the mission and goals of the University’s advising program. The training and development opportunities will be delivered in person and online using a learning management system (Blackboard).
  • 15% Provide developmental advising to a small (~100 students) caseload of students
  • 5% Remain up to date in trends in advising, training, and professional development
  • 5% Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Adult Education, Training & Development, Human Resources, Organizational Management or related OR Master’s degree in Higher Education, College Personnel, or related OR Master’s degree in a discipline taught at the University
  • Two years’ experience providing developmental advising at an accredited college or university
  • Two years’ experience developing and implementing training and professional development programs to adults
    *Demonstrated experience with a learning management system (Blackboard, D2L, SkillSoft, or similar)
  • Experience developing and implementing training and professional development programs in different formats/modalities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with program assessment
  • Demonstrated experience with an enterprise Student Information System (Banner, CampusVue or similar)
