Detailed Job Description

Oversee and maintain computers, CNC machinery and other related equipment in the division. Set-up, install, manage, troubleshoot, test and maintain all aspects of computer technology in the division. With an understanding of divisional practices, provide input and recommendations regarding new and existing digital fabrication and computing policies and procedures and educate/implement as approved in order to allow for smooth and efficient operations involving technology in the division. Advise and guide students and faculty on the use of available technology and equipment and how it can be used to support the design process. Research and evaluate new and alternative hardware and software availability, specifications, and prices; make recommendations based on findings. Provide personal computer hardware, software and peripheral troubleshooting and support for faculty, staff and students. Supervise, train, and coordinate schedules for student monitors at facilities.  

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Prior experience leading, guiding or supervising others
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills.

Previous experience with providing support to visual artists/designers.
Experience with digital fabrication equipment and principles (Laser Cutters, Milling Machines, 3D printers, etc).

Experience with audio-visual and design software (Adobe suite, Rhino, Audacity, Final Cut Pro, Maya, Autodesk software).

Familiarity with programming environments for the arts (Arduino, Processing, Max, OpenSCAD, etc.).

Ability to stay current on new software as needed.

Experience with supporting various computer hardware and operating systems (Mac, Windows, Linux).

Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety policies.

Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural and inclusive setting.
