Detailed Job Description

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Prospective Student Services, the Admissions Counselor for diverse and underrepresented populations will serve as the primary recruitment contact for an assigned regional area. He/She would be responsible for identifying and implementing effective recruitment strategies to attract and enroll students from diverse populations and other specified groups. Visit high schools, make presentations, organize related on-campus events and counsel students on UVU admission, policy, procedures, and undergraduate programs of study.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year of experience directly related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Must work evenings and weekends as required.

Valid driver’s license required.


Knowledge of student recruitment, admission and retention issues for students of diverse backgrounds.


Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Skill in configuration and use of computerized database programs.
Organizing and coordinating skills.


Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Ability to develop, plan, and implement short-and long-range goals.
Ability to plan and evaluate programs.
Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Pay Range

$26,158 to $34,877
