Performs advanced professional accounting activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Ensures or evaluates compliance and accountability of financial programs and business operations/processes. May supervise or lead lower level professional accountants and other staff.

Additional Department Summary:

Position performs advanced professional accounting activities for the College of Continuing Studies. More specifically, the position will be responsible for overseeing the CCS non-credit and grant accounting. The non-credit side requires the employee to apply proper accounting procedures and standards to data entered and reported from our secondary accounting system. Also, the position requires a knowledge of grants to advise on grant accounting. Position requires application of advanced accounting principles and knowledge to ensure CCS financial non-credit and grants are properly recorded and reported. Position will ensure recording and reporting occurs in a timely fashion meeting the needs of customers. Position will evaluate compliance with accounting standards for non-credit programs. Position will supervise clerical and student staff employees. Position will be responsible for overseeing their work and approving their leave requests, work, and reports prior to them being disseminated to customers. CCS's non-credit budget accounts for about a $4-5 million annual revenues as well as around $3-5 million in grants.The total CCS revenue budget is in excess of $40 million per year.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and three (3) years of professional accounting experience; OR a Master's degree in Accounting or Business and 2 years of professional accounting experience; OR CPA and 2 years of professional accounting experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

High level of competency working in Microsoft Excel creating complex financial spreadsheets using formulas and analysis tools. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Possess clear communication skills both written and orally, as well as, a focus on serving customers by meeting needs in a timely and accurate manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in Banner, SEMtek, or other accounting software. Experience working in a higher education environment and working with grants. Additionally, experience working with both revenue and cost accounting. 58 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 37065.60 Midpoint - $ 53747.16
