This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.

Duties

Serve as the primary point person behind the department's in-game production efforts.

Oversees event presentation development and execution for all MU athletics (16 teams) with a primary focus on directing the game presentation for football, basketball and ice hockey.

Produce consistent game presentation elements in assigned sports: production to include writing and updating run-of-show documents (timelines) and PA scripts; managing and operating video board (where applicable); assisting with the creation and production of video board content for in-game use (where applicable); developing sponsor-related in-game promotions; coordinating spirit elements on game days including music/sound effects; Pep Band, Cheer and Swoop (mascot), uphold University mission through work performed; and other duties as assigned.

Work collaboratively with the Department of Fan, Campus & Community Engagement to coordinate the planning and implementation of in-game activities and promotions that identify creative and innovative programs that engage both existing and potential fans, resulting in an entertaining atmosphere and that encourages spectator loyalty and support.

Liaison to IMG for the department.

Assist with oversight of Athletic Event and Facilities Coordinators and student interns; assist with the oversight of the hiring process for the student intern program; assist with sponsorship fulfillment responsibilities related to IMG Sports Properties.

Manage music playlists for all sports including outside contractors.

Assist in the organization and implementation of athletic and special events for the athletic department.

Supervise undergraduate/graduate event management interns in preparation for regular and post season athletic events.

Prepare, update and maintain game day management materials

Facilitate communication between internal and external units regarding game day management.

Assist in the continual communications of event information to staff and other constituents.

Assist in trouble shooting and problem solving during events.

Primary sport responsibilities will be determined based on applicant’s knowledge and experience.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in sports administration/management or related field
  • Strong computer literacy in Windows, Excel, Word and Publisher as well as internet functions.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of in-game event management experience within the NCAA or a professional sporting organization.
  • Experience using Click Effects, Daktronics Show Control System, Game Ops Commander or similar
  • Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills, bringing expertise to the organization and best practices to event presentation.
  • Must demonstrate the majority of the following:  a strong work ethic, good time management skills, ability to self motivate, want to excel and establish a career in athletics, ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents, particularly senior staff, coaching staffs, and other appropriate University staff, should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to change, organized, highly responsible, have a positive attitude, able to accept direction and constructive criticism, ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, able to work on multiple projects, and the ability to prioritize events and/or circumstances is essential. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in sports administration/management or related field.
  • Experience using graphic design or video editing programs (Adobe Creative Cloud/Final Cut Pro X) or similar.
  • 3+ years’ experience in game day management, marketing or in-game production.
