Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks an innovative and strategic Communications Specialist to imagine, develop and produce a variety of high quality, innovative and engaging print and electronic written fundraising communications for both internal and external audiences. The successful incumbent will develop, write and oversee the production of strategic communication materials to serve the needs of Institutional Engagement and as requested by the Vice-President and Directors of Institutional Engagement.
Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Engagement, s/he will be an integral part of the Office of Institutional Engagement by acting as the voice of RISD Development. Utilizing their in-depth understanding RISD's strategic priorities, the Strategic Communication Specialist will ensure the strategic communication goals of Institutional Engagement are met. Managing projects from inception to delivery, the Strategic Communications Specialist will conduct interviews with other members of the Institutional Engagement team to understand institutional goals and priorities and create content for funding proposals, stewardship materials and reports, brochures and letters. As an expert in the use of English grammar, punctuation and syntax, s/he will provide editorial review of all printed and electronic fundraising materials and communications. This expertise will be utilized to make modifications and suggestions to ensure materials are of highest quality and greatest appeal. The Strategic Communications Specialist will research and draft communications, speeches and remarks that are sensitive to and inclusive of a broad range of diverse audiences.
