Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Extended Campus Programs Student Services, the incumbent administers advising and other student services to the graduate education students in the Extended Campus Programs (XCP) at American International College. The Advisor for Extended Campus Programs is responsible for a variety of administrative functions, with the primary responsibility being a first point of contact for XCP student inquiries, as well as assisting the Coordinator and Director of XCP Student Services with the updating and dissemination of graduate program information for the extended campus program students. Emphasis for this position is on student advising


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience working in an advising capacity in a higher education institution preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Personal attributes that encourage mutual support and customer service within an intimate office setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft office with knowledge of Excel, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Jenzabar (SIS) preferred
  • Essential Functions

  • Serves as a first point of contact for XCP students.
  • Assists in the administrative planning and evaluation of policies, procedures and services for XCP students.
  • Assists with the maintenance and dissemination of all XCP program information in support of the XCP students, including the XCP Orientation materials, program cards, the XCP Student Handbook, and all documents on the XCP Student Portal. Assists the Director of XCP Student Services with the development and delivery of both on-campus and off-campus student information sessions, including new student orientations and culminating workshops.
  • Evaluates quality of student services and recommends improvements
  • May be assigned responsibilities for other divisional services or projects, which may be on-going or short-term, and which require planning, coordination, and supervision; such assignments are necessary to the division and may require specialized knowledge.
  • Maintains close and cooperative relationship between Division, Schools, College and faculty, students and external constituents; serves as a resource regarding information about programs and/or services, policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the creation and maintenance the XCP Newsletter in support of the Extended Campus Program students.
  • Performs related duties as required.
