This position directs the development of all activities and supervision of all staff within the Veterans Student Success Center. This position is responsible for formulating and administering the operations and budgets within the center that will aid in the reintegration of veterans into civilian student life, retention, graduation and career placement. This position also requires the ability to collaborate with community and campus entities to achieve these goals of the University. This position serves as a mentor or advisor for the Student Veterans of America (SVA ) club on campus.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Master’s Degree in Higher Education, College Student Affairs, Counseling or other related area. Minimum of 1 year experience working with Veteran and/or military connected students in the higher education setting. Knowledge of Veterans Affairs educational benefit programs and regulations. Experience with Grant writing and administration.
Knowledge of Veterans Educational Benefits.
Knowledge of Recruitment methods for Higher Education.
Knowledge of Community Program offerings and services for Veteran Students.
Knowledge of Federal and State Veteran Grants.
Skilled in supervision and training of other employees.
Skilled in Office methods and procedures including the use of computer software and applications.
Skilled in records management.
Skilled in giving presentations to individuals and groups.
Skilled in administration of a budget.
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
Ability to represent the University professionally and intelligently.
