Job ID: 770. Intervention Learning Specialists provide 1 on 1 tutoring for student athletes.
This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
Provides 1 on 1 academic support, including tutoring, to student athletes. Assesses individual students' learning needs and determines effective educational interventions. Implements systematic application of learning interventions and teaches effective learning strategies. Provides guidance in the areas of time management, learning style, critical reading, note taking, test taking, etc. Coordinates learning-related services with external providers as needed and in accordance to student need.
Bachelor's degree; experience working with students in an educational setting; understanding of effective learning strategies and 1-3 years experience applying this knowledge in an educational setting; experience working with diverse populations.
Experience gained during internships and/or graduate assistantships may be counted towards these requirements.
Master's degree; 1-3 years of experience in higher education; possession of a teaching certificate and/or 1-3 years of experience with one-on-one tutoring. Certification and experience in special education is also a plus.
