The Global Initiatives Assistant/Associate Director leads Study Abroad initiatives at Miami University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant/Associate Director is responsible for administrative and programmatic oversight of all education abroad/away programs sponsored by Miami University and will direct and manage the implementation and operation of international academic experiences for students. The assistant/associate director will work with the staff to streamline program development processes, manage budgets, assess and manage risk associated with study abroad, communicate and implement policies, develop and monitor performance indicators for programmatic success and liaise with current and prospective international partners.
Oversee a large volume of short-term study abroad programs (processes, procedures, information, publicity, develop policy, develop and manage budgets, assist with faculty workshops.
Policy development, review, coordination, implementation and compliance.
Work with faculty on course planning and development.
Supervise study abroad staff.
Coordinate student advising regarding study abroad opportunities and collaborate to facilitate student study abroad orientation sessions
Oversee publications necessary for marketing and promotion of the study abroad program and coordinate student online content while abroad
Work on other projects as assigned related to campus internationalization initiatives and programs.
Coordinate risk management and crisis response protocols, policies, and contracts with approved providers for study abroad. Act as case manager in emergencies.
This position will require 24/7/365 emergency coverage for periods of time.
Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with faculty and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
For appointment at the Assistant Director level:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience in international education/study abroad.
For appointment at the Associate Director level:
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s and 3-5 years of work experience in international education/study abroad.
