Miami University’s Office of Admission seeks a dynamic and energetic professional to support its efforts to recruit and enroll international undergraduate students. The University has experienced continued and unprecedented growth in international student interest and enrollment over the past three years, and the Assistant Director will play an important role in continuing and expanding Miami’s recent success.


  • Assist in the planning and implementation of international recruitment travel strategies in designated parts of the world, using a variety of medium such as consortium, large group and independent travel incorporating high school visits, college fairs, mini fairs, and counselor receptions.
  • Participate in international travel 4-6 weeks a year in designated international locations. 
  • Serve as a resource and actively engage in international data entry, document review, and processing of international application materials and acceptance packets.
  • Assist with international admission review and the training of outside reviewers.
  • Actively support recruitment and enhance the visibility of the American Culture and English program.
  • Work collaboratively with campus organizations focused on working with international students; Work closely with university offices, including International Student and Scholar Services, Registrar, Bursar, Student Financial Assistance, and the One-Stop for Student Success Services.
  • Serve as a liaison with Enrollment Operations to develop, implement and streamline international application and review processes.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).  Process initial I-20 visa documents for newly accepted students.  
  • Prepare reports and assist with analyzing trends on international recruitment, admission and enrollment using Miami and national data. 
  • Assist with the coordination of recruitment and yield activities including but not limited to tele-recruiting, Skype, web chats/virtual fairs, email, and social media.
  • Host and help organize campus visits for international school counselors and prospective international students.
  • Assist in the management of the primary international email account as well as providing responses to additional written and phone inquiries from international students.
  • Actively participate in international admission and international recruitment-related professional organizations.
  • Work collaboratively with the International Student Ambassadors.
  • Participate in other general admission activities such as weekly COD assignments and admission special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and one or more years of admission or student services experience.  A master’s degree in lieu of Bachelor’s degree and years of experience will be considered.  Excellent interpersonal, public speaking and writing abilities.  Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.  Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills; detail oriented; creative, and has the ability to exercise sound judgment.  Experience in and/or strong interest in recruiting and enrolling international students. Must be able and willing to perform 4-6 weeks of overnight international travel per year.  Must possess a driver’s license and be able to meet requirements for becoming a Designated School Official (DSO). 

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of international education systems, credit evaluations, and testing practices.  International admission or international student services experience.  Exposure to or a working knowledge of the U.S. immigration policies for F1 and other visa statuses.  Working knowledge of a foreign language and/or experience living abroad.  Experience working with CRM and/or Student Information System software.
