Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for OSHA standards, including maintenance and monitoring of the clinic’s physical environment and equipment. Contacts Campus Police and/or Plant Operations regarding emergencies or incidences needing urgent attention during patient session, hands-on labs or other assigned time
• Ensures assigned clinic area is secure and that rooms and cabinets are properly locked
• Ensures clinical areas and clinical operations are properly set up and maintained before, during, and after each clinic patient session and hands-on lab session
• Monitors use and inventory of clinic supplies, including lab supply ordering and instructor requests for equipment and supplies
• Assigns students to patients, updates patient schedules and tracks number of patients per student in the applicable databases
• Tracks student progress in the clinic using prescribed rubrics, maintains forms and databases
• Responsible for all medical authorizations, paperwork and databases for clinic patients
• Responsible for all health documentation, physicians forms, paperwork and databases for students
• Assists program manager with updating and enforcing policies and procedures for students and patients. Apprise program manager of serious patient and/or student concerns or problems
• Updates learning and behavioral objectives for the student clinic. Aids in the distribution, collection and analysis of clinical education effectiveness and program outcome instruments
• Tutors conditional status students and other students who need learning assistance. Visits classes or consults with faculty as necessary. Maintains all databases and paperwork and enforces all policies and procedures related to tutoring
• Assists instructors in hands-on labs which include, but not limited to, supervising, observing, grading and evaluating students
• Coordinates activities specific to patient sessions and massage appointments, including chart distribution, reviews and updates and workflow between the front desk, student, patient and instructor. Resolves all student and patient clinical issues for students, assisting instructors with the same• Assists instructor with all student-patient observations and acts as a model of professional behavior. Reviews records of students and periodically meets with instructor(s) and/or program manager to discuss and evaluate student’s performance and professionalism, including student due process proceedings
• Monitors student whereabouts at all times, including any break times
• Leads students who do not have a massage during an appointment hour and when necessary, delivers instruction, following the syllabus and program approved materials/content
• Enforces clinic and program policies and procedures with patients and students
• Must learn, follow, and teach the Program’s established massage techniques and protocols
• Assists Program Manager to ensure and enforce consistency in testing and grading, and best practices in the student clinic. Applies a variety of learning modalities in the clinic and hands-on lab
• Schedules, coordinates and participates in massage events inside and outside of the college. Provides supervision for participating students
• Maintains current knowledge of massage techniques and theories and educational methodology through continual professional improvement
• Perform duties of staff in their absence or when needed, including scheduling and cancelling massage appointments, making reminder calls, greets patients upon arrival, collects payments using My Tri-C card machine, and directs patients to complete necessary forms
• Maintains assigned records, files and databases, ensuring confidentiality
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree from a recognized college/university or High School diploma/GED with 5 years teaching experience. Associate degree must be obtained before end of 2nd year of employment
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed Massage Therapist and be licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio
• Prior experience or training in Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release
• Demonstrated teaching and clinical experience
• One to three years of demonstrated supervisory experience
• Experience in massage clinical operations/administration and scheduling
• Demonstrated experience working successfully with the public

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet and email
• Detail oriented
• Must have the ability to create spreadsheets and to collect and analyze data
• Must demonstrate proficiency in hands-on skills and be able to teach hands-on skills
• Leadership and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Demonstrated clinical reasoning/judgment skills
• Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college/university
• Supervision of licensed massage therapists
• Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling software

Work Schedule

Employed on a semester-by-semester basis. Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of Student Massage Therapy Clinic. Day and Evening/Weekend hours are required.
