Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency/Risk Management, the Coordinator – Environmental Health and Safety provides support of Environmental Health and Safety standards and programs across the university.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.
1 -2 years of EHS related experience in government, industry, or higher education.
Familiarity with local, state, federal codes that apply to security and life safety equipment.
Knowledge of risks and impacts of work activities and the benefits of improving Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) performance.
Knowledge of safe work behaviors and interpretation of EHS data.
Effective communication/interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
Effective organization/planning skills.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to draw conclusions and recommend a course of action.
Ability to develop and deliver EHS training materials for various personnel.
Ability to use standard office software programs including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and audio visual presentations.
Ability to evaluate EHS related risks.
