The assistant athletic director or director for marketing, promotions, and fundraising is responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies to increase fan attendance, revenue, and both internal and external support for each of Saint Leo University’s 19 intercollegiate teams and the overall athletic department. The duties also include the oversight of the Lions Athletic Fund, the official booster club of SLU Athletics, sponsorship initiatives, game promotions, and community engagement.

Basic Function:

Additionally, the assistant director is responsible for coordinating and managing the traditional, special, and social events for the athletic department. In addition departmental social events, major annual events include the Green and Gold Awards, Saint Leo Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, Spirit of Saint Leo Golf Tournament, Moonlight Madness, National Girls & Women in Sports Celebration, and Championship celebrations

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred

ii. Previous advancement of athletics programs experience helpful

iii. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

iv. Highly organized and self-motivated with attention to prompt, accurate, and professional service

v. Proficient computer skills required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Power Point, and Design experience

vi. Ability to maintain confidentiality

vii. Understand and appreciate the distinctive needs and interests of mature adults and be able to communicate with them

viii. Ability to receive detailed information and exchange ideas through oral communication

Willing to work in a team atmosphere where expectations are set and managed while giving staff flexibility to do their assigned tasks as both a leader and/or a follower.

Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with colleagues, fans, student-athletes, work-study students, coaches, and administrators.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
