Job Description:


Under the supervision of Dean of Engineering, Math, Nursing and Science, the Farm and Food System Program Coordinator will manage certain aspects of the GCC course and degree programs in Farm and Food Systems and the multi-program Sustainable Agriculture and Green Energy (SAGE) Education Center Team.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned components of current grants involving Farm and Food Systems programs & related off-site course scheduling, staffing and delivery, including budgets, reporting, coordination of activities with partners, marketing of grant events, participation in advisory meetings and ongoing communication with the SAGE team & science department.
  • Coordinate course scheduling, staffing, and delivery associated with the Farm and Food Systems Liberal Arts Option (LFF) as well as the new Farm and Food Systems Certificate (FFS); collaborate directly with science faculty in the scheduling of these courses
  • Advise LFF students in course selection, educational pathways, transfer & career options
  • Collaborate actively with relevant internal GCC departments, such as admissions, registrar, business, development, marketing, and other areas as needed. 
  • Work closely with Internship Coordinator to create/match student with farm and food internships

  • Manage 1-credit Agriculture skills courses by helping to identify & hire excellent instructors, schedule classes and sites, support adjunct faculty and facilitate assessments 
  • Coordinate blended course offerings with Division of Workforce Development and Community Education
  • Represent GCC and table at key events identified as important to Farm and Food program outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships with community businesses, organizations and other stakeholders in farming and food systems.
  • Be an active and engaged member of SAGE team meetings, activities, grant writing, transition planning, etc.
  • Keep program web site up-to-date and engaging as outreach tool.
  • Participate in marketing activities, such as creation of written/digital materials, on-line marketing (list serves, Facebook, GCC web site)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Engineering, Math, Nursing and Science



  • Bachelor's degree related to farming & food systems or Two-year degree related to farming & food systems with appropriate experience in farming and/or food systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the farming & food systems community in the region.
  • Grant / project management experience, working with spreadsheets, budgets; grant or project reporting.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Commitment to supporting diversity and access


  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Experience in academic, internship and career advising/counselling
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Marketing/outreach experience
  • Community college teaching, project management, or grant experience.
  • Higher Education experience
