The University of Alabama Libraries is seeking a creative, innovative and experienced librarian to lead the Angelo Bruno Library, primarily serving the instructional, information, and research needs of the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce (http://culverhouse.ua.edu). Reporting to the Associate Dean for Branches and Digital Student Services, the candidate will possess the vision and leadership skills necessary to develop a 21st century user-focused business library. Evaluation of current programs and development of new programs will be expected, as well as marketing programs and services to the campus community, in addition to overseeing the operations of a significant library. Must possess an understanding of pedagogy and research support. The candidate will actively participate in the Dean’s Advisory Council.

Responsibilities:
The University of Alabama Libraries is seeking a creative, innovative and experienced librarian to lead the Angelo Bruno Library, primarily serving the instructional, information, and research needs of the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce (http://culverhouse.ua.edu). Reporting to the Associate Dean for Branches and Digital Student Services, the candidate will possess the vision and leadership skills necessary to develop a 21st century user-focused business library. Evaluation of current programs and development of new programs will be expected, as well as marketing programs and services to the campus community, in addition to overseeing the operations of a significant library. Must possess an understanding of pedagogy and research support. The candidate will actively participate in the Dean’s Advisory Council. Additional responsibilities include:
• Leading a team of librarians and staff members in Bruno Library.
• Developing, implementing, and assessing innovative reference, instruction, and outreach programs and services in support of learning, teaching, and research.
• Collaborating with all campus libraries on instructional programs and public services.
• Developing relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff to strengthen instructional and research programs and to foster collaboration in the college and on campus.
• Working with the Associate Dean for Branch Libraries and Digital Student Services to develop and facilitate innovative 21st century programs and services that are responsive to the University’s, College’s, and Libraries’ priorities.

Required:
Master’s degree in Library & Information Sciences from an ALA accredited institution, Master of Business Administration, and a minimum of 10 years post-graduate degree experience as a business research librarian with at least three of those years in a supervisory or administrative role in an institution serving a large undergraduate and graduate enrollment and a sizable business college faculty.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience managing, coordinating and/or motivating faculty; ability to facilitate change; and knowledge of and deep experience with business, and related fields of research, resources, services, and tools, such as Bloomberg, WRDS, Compustat, and CRSP. Experience with collection development and management (print and e) and facility with tools necessary to manage the selection and delivery of resources. Demonstrated awareness of current and emerging trends in academic business libraries. Demonstrated leadership of teams and innovative use of resources and emerging technologies and a record of scholarship and professional service. Ability to reach out to users and create innovative services as needed and documented experience working in dynamic environments where new services are tested, evaluated, and adapted.

Preferred:
Effective communication with donors and experience managing endowment expenditures.
