Detailed Job Description

Job Description:

Commonwealth of Massachusetts Human Resources Division Classification Specification for Administrative Assistant II may be obtained at the Human Resources Office or at:

  • Assist student veterans in their transition to college including applying for Veterans Administration educational benefits and completing the college enrollment process.
  • Act as certifying official and liaison between BHCC students and the Veterans Administration and maintain proficiency in all state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain records in compliance with federal and state policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of reports.


Required Qualifications: 

  • Three years of office experience with strong keyboarding, word processing and database skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to interact in a confidential and effective manner.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task office projects.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of Veterans Administration benefits, rules and regulations.
  • Experience working as a certifying Veterans Administration benefits official.
  • Experience working with student veterans in an educational environment.
