The Miami Sports Marketing Department handles the Marketing, Fan Engagement and/or Promotional outreach and strategy for Miami’s Varsity Athletic Teams.  Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball and Hockey are ticketed sports; the other seven fan friendly Olympic sports are promoted and marketed by the Sports Marketing Internship Academy. The role of the Marketing Assistant (part-time intern) would include but not be limited to overseeing the Olympic Sports and assisting with game day for the ticketed sports.


  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of marketing and promotional activities to increase the visibility of the Miami University Athletics program with students, alumni, fans and general public
  • Assist with Women's Basketball and Volleyball
  • Lead administrative oversight for interns working with Soccer, Field Hockey, Baseball and Softball
  • Assist with pre-season fan focused events for Football, Men's & Women's Basketball and Hockey
  • Assist with the execution of fan experiences such as the END Zone, Swoop’s FanFEST, and Carnival on the Concourse promotions for home football and basketball events
  • Assist with appearances for coaches and student-athletes on campus & in the Oxford Community
  • Assist with organizing special events with partners on-campus and in Oxford community
  • Coordinate Mascot appearances in the Oxford community
  • Assist with the execution of on-campus promotions of sporting events
  • Assist with the coordination of pre-game & half-time/intermissions activities for football, basketball and hockey
  • Execution of promotions for all home athletic events
  • Assist with the graphic design needs for the department (Adobe Photoshop)
  • Provide content for social media initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, and Adobe Photoshop
  • Proven success in brand, project and/or product management
  • Demonstrated analytic and strategic thinking
  • Outgoing, upbeat personality with a willingness to participate in team environment
  • Solid understanding of basic marketing tenets, strategies & evolving trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional professionalism and polish in demeanor and appearance
  • Strong attention to detail, timelines and organization
  • Able to work extended hours, including games and events on nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some experience with Experiential or Events Marketing, Brand or Project Management, Promotions, Agency and/or Communications.
