Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Admission, the purpose of this temporary position is to assist the director in the college admissions process during the summer months.  The part time admissions counselor performs recruitment activities, including on- and off-campus events, supporting students through the admissions process, processing college admission applications, and performing related work as directed.

  • Assists in coordinating and promoting the College admission processes for all student populations;
  • Participates in recruitment activities and events both on and off campus to include information sessions, enrollment events, and visits to recruitment sites;
  • Advises prospective students and families on educational opportunities, academic program offerings and enrollment procedures to the College;
  • Represents the College at college fairs, career fairs, high school visits and other off campus recruitment activities as needed;
  • Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities including but not limited to accessing the student information system (BANNER), extracting data, and creating correspondences;
  • Collaborates with academic and student support areas to facilitate enrollment activities;
  • Periodically work evenings and weekends to participate in college enrollment activities.

Requirements

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Liberal Arts, or closely related field;
  • Six (6) months experience and/or training involving college admissions, transfer credit evaluation, or academic counseling/advisement;
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with BANNER or a similar student information systems;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Word and Excel;
  • Experience working within a community college setting.
