Detailed Job Description

The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of a science lab(s).

Additional Department Summary:

This position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab under the direction of Dr. Mortazavi. The position will also aid the PI and student researchers in all aspects of the project as deemed appropriate by the PI.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of laboratory experience; OR Master's degree. Graduate level studies in the science subject area of the laboratory may be considered as experience. Must have proficient laboratory skills in the science subject area.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Experience in the field of biogeochemistry.

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledgeable in the field of nitrogen biogeochemistry. Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization to perform varied scientific research tasks of moderate complexity requiring application and adaptation of established techniques, procedures, and criteria. Knowledgeable in personal computers, along with basic computer applications to include word processing, database management and/or spreadsheet programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Four years of experience in the field of biogeochemistry. Three years of experience operating and maintaining a membrane inlet mass spectrometer for processing dissolved gases in sea water. Two years of experience in tracking laboratory expenditures, ordering lab supplies, and maintaining gas chromatography equipment, collecting samples in the field and preparing sediment cores for flux measurements. 57 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 31969.56 Midpoint - $ 46342.44
