Detailed Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Advancement Communications, the Senior Assistant Director of Advancement Communications will coordinate, produce and oversee assigned communications projects in support of University Advancement strategies to engage alumni, parents and donors with Bentley University and recruit and retain their philanthropic support.
Additional Description of Duties:
The Senior Assistant Director will:
Act as communications project manager on initiatives assigned by the Director of Advancement Communications. Depending on the project, the Senior Assistant Director may be responsible for: developing a communications plan; writing, editing and proofing copy; providing creative direction; coordinating reviews/approvals; developing e-communications; managing video shoots; and more.
Serve as primary communications consultant for select flagship events (e.g., Homecoming, Parents and Family Weekend) and larger-scale, high-profile initiatives.
Serve as the day-to-day content manager for all University Advancement web pages. Connect with members of the division to keep web content up-to-date; work with colleagues to analyze their current content/approach and determine if any changes or updates are needed; work with team and Publisher in Marketing to evaluate current and develop new content; track/analyze Google Analytics trends and make recommendations based on the analytics.
Serve as a member of the editorial team and a content contributor for the university's alumni magazine, Bentley Magazine.
Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in a marketing, marketing communications or advancement communications setting. Experience in a non-profit communications office, and/or higher-education fundraising communication is preferred.
Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Must have demonstrated professional experience and be an exceptionally strong writer/editor/proofreader.
Must have demonstrated professional experience managing a web presence (e.g., strategy, creating content, updating copy/navigation/visuals, etc.) and leveraging Google Analytics to help guide future decisions.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
