Detailed Job Description

Job ID:  1216.  The Program Coordinator is a member of the office of Student Activities and the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life within the Division of Student Affairs. The Program Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Student Activities and the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and works with colleagues and stakeholders in the enhancement of student engagement at Miami University as stated in the university goal of developing a “Model Greek Community.” The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting and enhancing leadership to the University’s fraternity and sorority community and Student Activities.


Responsibilities to Fraternity and Sorority Life:  Assist the Associate Director in the implementation and assessment of the Community Advancement Program:

  • Coordinating the online submission, tracking and assessment of the Community Advancement Program for chapters in all three councils (IFC, Panhellenic and NPHC)
  • Serve as a chapter services liaison, providing advising and leadership development to a variety of chapters from IFC, Panhellenic and NPHC organizations
  • Supporting the planning and implementation of Volunteer Advisor development programs
  • Supporting the planning and implementation of annual leadership programs, training and development, including but not limited to the Greek Leadership Advance, Council Executive Board Retreat, Acropolis, and various officer and leadership retreats
  • Work with the assistant director to coordinate the planning and implementation of programs focused on new member education and second year initiatives including the Sorority Living Learning Community and Fraternity Exempted Chapters
  • Implementation of diversity initiatives that complement and enhance the fraternal experience
  • Support in the development of a historic archive of Miami’s fraternity and sorority community

Responsibilities to Student Organizations and Activities:  Assist the Director in the implementation of departmental assessment and student learning.

  • Coordinate departmental assessment plans
  • Supports Assistant Director in implementation and marketing of Late Night Programming at Miami
  • Create assessment tools to measure student learning based off a variety of mediums
  • Administer the EBI Student Org. Leader Survey
  • Serve on the Hazing Prevention Programming Committee
  • Work with assistant director to coordinate Hub Implementation and Education Strategies
  • Assist with the implementation of Student Activities Learning Outcomes Survey

Duties as a part of the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Student Activities Staff:

  • Provide leadership for the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Student Activities in establishing and fulfilling its mission and goals; and in conducting daily operations and responsibilities
  • Assist in supporting and establishing annual and long-range department goals
  • Support and maintain office standards and policies
  • Support, nurture, and maintain regular and collaborative relationships within the Division of Student Affairs and other University offices
  • Assist in the selection process for the Student Engagement and Leadership Awards program and various other recognition programs
  • Other duties as assigned, provided they support the mission of the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership and Student Activities 

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel or related field

Graduate or professional experience in student organization advising, program/event planning, leadership development, alcohol education, and/or fraternity/sorority life

Willingness to work in a team and collaborative environment

Must possess strong written and oral communication skills

Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to word, excel and knowledge of social media and marketing mediums 

Willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends
