Detailed Job Description

Assist the Facilities Management Residence Hall Lead performing various repairs throughout the university residence halls including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, lighting and painting.

Specific Duties

Perform various types of repairs in residence halls including but not limited to carpentry, electrical, lighting, painting, furniture relocation, and plumbing.
Communicate directly with Housing Department with Residence Hall Lead is absent.
Act as liaison with HVAC and other facilities-related contractors called in to provide assistance with facilities operations, repairs and maintenance to residence halls when the Residence Hall Lead is absent.
Act and primary and secondary emergency on call person for the Facilites Management Department as assigned.
Provide labor assistance to Facilities Management Department during special events and emergencies.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned including but not limited to event set up and support for commencement, homecoming and other campus events.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Five years experience as general handyman, contractor or apprentice.
Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and have knowledge how to properly operate all types of small power tools. Must possess a valid California Driver License.
All general hand tools, power drills, plumbing snakes. ladders.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in an educational institution

Journey level in either carpentry, plumbing or electrical or experience as a general carpenter or handyman.
