Under the direction of the AVP, the Assistant Director of Development supports and collaborates closely with the Dean/leader of their assigned college unit. As a member of the University’s central development enterprise, the Assistant Director will be assigned to lead the comprehensive development efforts for two colleges or more units. Operating within approved University and Foundation guidelines and strategy regarding development activities, the Assistant Director personally manages an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects, and is responsible for identifying and qualifying prospects, engaging and cultivating current and prospective donors, directly soliciting donors for major and other gifts, and stewarding donors.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field and three years experience related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and/or experience totaling seven years.
Valid Driver’s License and the ability or means to travel to meetings at other sites related to the nature of this position.
Knowledge of and significant direct experience with fund raising procedures, techniques, and the ability to apply this knowledge in personal fund raising.
Strong knowledge of effective web-based search engines and search strategies.
Knowledge of academic operations, governance, and culture.
Knowledge of gift planning strategies.
Strong aptitude with standard office productivity software which must include Microsoft Office programs.

Possess a professional outlook and keen sense of accountability and be highly energetic, focused, and outcome-oriented.
Ability to freely navigate multiple campus sites, including visits to other campus locations.
