Detailed Job Description

The director works with the senior director of administration to determine the strategic direction of student financial aid and financial planning. This position manages a comprehensive financial assistance program to assist individuals in overcoming the challenges of affording a college education. The successful candidate will have a record that demonstrates administrative efficiency in providing financial aid services through an emphasis on individual attention to students and a high quality service delivery model. The director will provide quality customer service to prospective and current online students. The director will measure financial aid performance and work to increase productivity and customer satisfaction. The director will research and implement new financing options and more efficient ways to assist students with the application process.

Job Duties

Ability to understand federal, state and college policies and regulations to determine eligibility for federal, state and institutional financial aid for online students.

Ability to award financial aid and assist with file review/verification process, including IM and FM need analysis calculations.

Experience in managing many programs within financial aid - direct lending, alternative education loan processing, work-study, state programs, federal grants, outside scholarships, payment plans, etc.

Have strong communication skills that include the ability to present information in a public manner as well as one-on-one meetings.

Ability to train staff members in various areas of financial aid.

Possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and successfully prioritize tasks.

Have strong leadership skills that will work to motivate staff and increase department efficiencies.

Possess excellent written skills in order to create an outreach strategy that lets students know about their financing options.

Research and implement new financing options.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in financial aid in a higher educational setting.

Experience working with online students is preferred but not required.
