Reports to: Team Physician, Head Athletic Trainer. Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director responsible for the Sports Medicine Department.
Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking an experienced, energetic BOC certified athletic trainer to work in conjunction with the head athletic trainer, 2 assistant athletic trainers currently on staff and the strength and conditioning coach, to provide and supervise the health care of the student athletes at MSU Denver. The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries the in the athletic program. The assistant athletic trainer will also assist in providing with rehabilitation services for MSU Denver’s general student population as prescribed by the medical personnel at the Health Center at Auraria. The position will require serving as a preceptor for MSU Denver’s Athletic Training Curriculum.
This position is currently temporary but has the expectation of being fully base funded in the next year.
Responsible to maintain a professional image while representing the university at games, practices, away trips, conventions or meetings and in the community.
Provide coverage for practices and athletic events associated with the intercollegiate teams at MSU Denver as assigned by the head athletic trainer
Coordination of athlete referrals to the designated health care providers established by MSU Denver Sports Medicine Program.
Administer first aid and emergency care to the student-athletes.
Assist with the coordination of rehabilitative needs of the athletes.
Provide rehabilitative services for the general student population at MSU Denver as prescribed by the Medical Personnel at the Health Center at Auraria.
Assist with the coordination and administration of correspondence for all insurance claims related to injuries occurring during athletic participation at MSU Denver.
Assist with the coordination of medical eligibility including health screenings and record maintenance.
Assist with the distribution of information to the student athletes and coaches regarding policies related to substance abuse, care and treatment of injuries legal waivers, health and accident insurance or any other health related information.
Serve as a preceptor for MSU Denver’s Athletic Training Curriculum
Maintain the athletic training facilities in a professional manner. Including inventor stocking of supplies and the hygiene of the facilities..
Provide proper creative leadership to continually enhance the sports medicine services to the athletes and the campus community applicable.
Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from a National Athletic Trainers Association(NATA)/Board of Certification(BOC) accredited Athletic Training curriculum.
Currently BOC Certified.
Member in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Must be CPR/AED Certified.
Minimum of 3 years athletic training experience preferably in the NCAA Div. II setting or higher
