The Assistant Director of Annual Giving is an essential member of University Advancement responsible for implementing a comprehensive and innovative annual giving program with a primary focus on building and sustaining the alumni donor pipeline. This position provides day-to-day oversight and management of the Annual Giving program and creates/supports ongoing efforts to engage alumni in support of the University’s initiatives and objectives.
The Assistant Director reports directly to the Interim Director of Alumni Relations and Giving and oversees execution of all annual giving fundraising solicitations. This position works closely with the Interim Director to create and evaluate strategies as needed.
50% Annual Fundraising
•In conjunction with the Interim Director, identify and solicit constituents through direct mail, email, social media and other mass solicitation efforts;
•Market MSU Denver, University Advancement and the Annual Fund through best practices and dynamic messaging;
•Create and liaise with internal and external marketing and communication resources to produce content, messaging and graphic assets for direct mail and email solicitations;
•Create segmentation and methodology for solicitations;
•Coordinate the annual solicitation calendar to schedule all outgoing appeals;
•Work closely with Advancement Services to create solicitation tracking and reporting mechanisms;
•Collaborate with President’s Society fundraiser to establish fundraising pipeline;
•Through the use of Raisers Edge, performs comprehensive analysis relating to all aspects of the Annual Giving Program, using statistics to evaluate effectiveness and recommend changes;
•Provide regular reporting to the University Advancement team; and
•Manage gift and pledge acknowledgement procedures in conjunction with Advancement Services.
30% Alumni Relations Programing
•Provide strategy, management and oversight over the Discovery program;
•Assist with program development and execution for Alumni Relations and Giving engagement and stewardship initiatives;
•Assist with content creation and development of email communication efforts targeting alumni and prospective donors;
•Provide content, strategy and support for social and digital engagement efforts including OurMSUDenver
•Provide ongoing support for Alumni Relations and Giving events; and
•Perform other related duties as assigned by the Interim Director of Alumni Relations and Giving
20% Campus Fundraising Liaison
•Work with internal and external partners to identify, provide strategy for, and support fundraising efforts under $15,000
•Promote the continuum of services to campus entities;
•Through the use of crowdfunding software, specifically the use of ScaleFunder: Develop and administer a robust crowdfunding initiative leveraging digital media to increase alumni participation and giving; Work with internal and external partners to create crowdfunding projects; and
•Prepare reports and records on program activities as needed.
2)Minimum 3 years of professional work experience;
3)Minimum 2 years experience in fundraising, program development, or marketing
4)Minimum 2 years of project management experience;
5)Experience working in Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM software;
6)Experience working with ScaleFunder or similar crowdfunding platform software;

2) Experience cultivating and working with alumni;
3) Experience gathering and interpreting data;
4) Evidence of successful creation, implementation and evaluation of projects;
5) Direct experience with Adobe Photoshop or InDesign; and
6)Experience working in higher education.
