Under the direction of the Department Chairperson, conducts assigned lower and/or upper division courses in the Exercise Science program. Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives. Develops appropriate curriculums for assigned courses, including potential for hybrid/online course offerings. Engages in scholarly activities, which contribute to the academic mission of the university. Serves on department, college and university committees, as well as renders service to the community relevant to the appropriate academic specialty.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Doctorate degree in Exercise Science or a related field required. Applicants who are ABD will be considered (must complete dissertation within 2 years of hiring date).
Candidates with ACSM/NSCA credentials are preferred.
Knowledge of Exercise Science and course content. Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
Knowledge of program and curriculum development.
Knowledge of measurement, evaluation and research.
Skill in student management, motivation and evaluation.
Proficiency in use of technology.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
